Wyocena, the geographic center of the county, was once the County Seat of Columbia County. The village has an interesting past and features two historic monuments (located in parks bordering Duck Creek) that tell the story as well as several historic buildings such as the general store, the local tavern, the old Congregational Church, the school (which is now the Community Center) and the Baptist Church which is 150 years old and still very active. The community children attend nearby Pardeeville Schools. Employment opportunities include the Columbia Health Care Center, Grande Cheese Corp., Columbia County Highway Department, Bank of Poynette- Wyocena Branch, and Coop Country Partners.
