The Columbia County Sheriff's Department is headquartered at Portage, the County Seat.  Steven R. Rowe is the County Sheriff and Michael E. Babcock is the Chief deputy.  The Sheriff's Department provides public safety and law enforcement services to the citizens of Columbia County and to the many thousands of travelers that visit Columbia County each year.  These pictures are of the Sheriff Department's  Emergency Response Team...its personnel, equipment and armored vehicle...and of the department's highway patrol...a mounted patrol officer and new patrol motorcycle.
