Don Cigelske's business
philosophy can be summed up in the Latin phrase
"Sola Deo Gloria" (to God alone be the glory),
which is displayed prominently on the building the shop has occupied
for three years. |

His company strives for excellence in technical and customer service, but
he believes the real distinction of a Christian-owned business should be
the desire to glorify God in everything that it does.
His building sign also includes a reference to the Bible passage James
4:13-15, which reads: "Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will
go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make
money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your
life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Instead, you ought to say, 'If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do
this or that.'"
"That's more of a reminder to me about my own personal philosophy and why
I'm in business than necessarily to say anything to the customers," Don
notes.
He started a transmission shop with little experience in transmissions and
no business training, and the opportunity to buy the new building came up
at a time when he wasn't sure whether to expand or retrench. "For this
business to make it 20 years, and the move into a nice place like this - I
felt at that time if it wasn't the Lord's will that I should be doing
this, it never would have happened." |
