SKDS receives word of
accreditation
Shortly before Christmas Break, we received word of our Accreditation.
The following press release came from Beatrice Weiland, Executive
Director, Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation.
The Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Religious and Independent
Schools Accreditation (WRISA) is pleased to announce the accreditation
of St. Katharine Drexel School in Beaver Dam. St. Katharine Drexel
School has proven compliance with WRISA educational Standards and has
been granted continued membership in the association. “We applaud the
accomplishments of St. Katharine Drexel School and its commitment to
ongoing school improvement and high standards of excellence,” remarked
Beatrice Weiland, WRISA’s Executive Director.
"All religious and independent schools in Wisconsin that have been in
operation with students for at least two years and meet extensive
eligibility criteria may apply to WRISA for entry into the accreditation
process,” said Weiland. Schools must complete a comprehensive year-long
self study, host a site visit every seven years, and develop and
implement a Long Range Plan for school improvement to maintain
accreditation. Schools file annual compliance reports that detail their
progress in meeting their goals and staying in compliance with the
Standards.

WRISA is a state chapter of the National Federation of Nonpublic School
State Accrediting Associations (NFNSSAA).
Jazz Band update
The latest jazz band schedule:
January 6,13,20,and 27
The Jazz Band will perform at the Festival of Educational Arts on
January 29.
Basketball has begun
The SKDS Basketball teams are up and playing. League games are every
Saturday in the Spring Street Gym starting at 9:30 a.m.
The league ends in mid-February with A and B tournaments. More
information about the tournaments will come in January.

Wanted: Past Graduation Photos
We are looking for pictures of the graduating classes from St.
Michael’s School and St. Patrick’s School (1954, 1956,1972). Do you
have one that we can have or scan? Please call the school office at
885-5558. We would also like to have the names of the individuals
pictured.
