Marquette is the third
oldest settlement in the State of Wisconsin! It was established in 1836.
Quaint shops offer a variety of merchandise. If you are hungry, Marquette offers many opportunities for
food, whether you are looking for fish fry, burgers or a steak!
Marquette is nestled
on the south shore of Lake Puckaway, which is a valuable recreational resource
for the community. Residents and
visitors alike enjoy the lake in all four seasons for boating and fishing.
Puckaway is approximately eight miles long and two miles wide.
Covering 5,400 acres, it is the seventh largest lake in the state. Puckaway offers bays, islands, weedbeds and plenty of open
water for fishing and boating enjoyment! An
excellent spot for a sporting vacation! Lodges,
bait shops and guide services are available.
The yellow perch, bluegills, walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass and
hybrid muskies are just waiting for your bait to hit the water!
Just to the south is
the 7,000 acre Grand River Wildlife Area. Managed
as a waterfowl restoration area, about 3,500 acres are flooded, creating an
ideal habitat for waterfowl. Ideal
for naturalists and sportsmen alike, wildlife abounds…mallards, teal, widgeon,
gadwell, geese…and whitetail deer!
