Almost all Amish businesses are located on or adjacent to the owner's rural home or farm. Some are seasonal, but most are year-around enterprises. Watch for hand-painted signs as you drive down Columbia County roads that announce various Amish businesses...although some Amish businesses are beginning to display commercial grade signage. In rural Columbia County you are likely to see a small handmade sign stuck into the ground at a cross-roads with an arrow pointing down the road toward a business. Go ahead...follow the arrow...you never know what bargains you are likely to encounter! |

Most Amish businesses provide services to the Amish Community. Many of those services are of interest to people outside the community. An Amish wagon maker is working on this buckboard for an "English" customer. |

Amish women are famous for their hand-made quilts. Amish women of all ages, including young girls, will gather together in homes as a "circle" to work on these beautiful creations. |
