The first steps in the commercial history of Watertown, Wisconsin, were taken by two brothers from the State of Vermont, John and Luther Cole, who established the very first retail store on what is now Main Street.  These entrepreneurs faced a somewhat different set of business challenges than the business people of Watertown face today.  Main Street was a muddy wagon path with sink holes, and there were no bridges over the Rock River...so many customers had to ford the river just to reach the store!

Today...you will find it much easier and a lot more fun to visit Watertown and trade in the many stores, shops, malls, restaurants...say...the list it just to long...let's make it simple!  Whatever you want...you can find it here in Watertown!
